Dr. Williams, Nursing Distinguished Professor of Women’s Health (tenured) and Director for the Center for Women, Children and Youth in College of Nursing at The Ohio State University. Her formal training is in the area of applied sociology and health services research. Her area of expertise is in community-based participatory research and women’s health policy. She has been involved in the evolution of women’s health research from fragmentation to the transition of bench to bedside to barrio (community) through the use of mix methodology, quantitative and qualitative to address health disparities. Dr. Williams has designed a breast and cervical cancer prevention intervention — Kin Keeper^SM.

For more than 10 years, she has been funded from the National Institutes of Health National Institute for Nursing Research, has been awarded grants from Susan G. Komen and state governments. She has authored peer-reviewed papers, reports and book chapters that empirically illustrate the intersection of family and community as strong influences on a woman’s preventive health decisions. She is a co-chair for a NIH-CSR Study Section, an alumna of both the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program and CIC-Academic Leadership Program; past president of the American Association for Cancer Education, a past president of board of the Susan G. Komen for Greater Lansing Affiliate is a member of the Michigan Cancer Consortium Breast Cancer Committee and a former co-chair of the Minority Women’s Health Panel of Experts with the United States Public Health Service’s Office on Women’s Health. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Links, Incorporated. She is a graduate of Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) and Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI).
